SEPTA Stories: Radio
For those of you unfamiliar with SEPTA, it stands for South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and they run all of the public transportation in and around Philadelphia. I commute five or more hours a day using SEPTA and along the way I witness the drama of human nature unfold in front of my eyes.
> I’m on the bus; I see this mentally challenged kid, or at least I think he’s a kid. He looks like Cuba Gooding Jr in Radio. I’m not trying to be funny, it’s just an accurate description.
This is the fourth time I have seen him. He picks up the bus at the mall and he always has a new DVD or video game. I can tell that he really likes 30 Rock because the last two times that I have seen him he’s had a DVD of the newest season.
Impulsively, he examines his purchase immediately after sitting down. Softly running his hand over the DVD’s box, he starts to rock back and forth rather violently. This makes everyone on the bus scared and nervous. They move to sit somewhere further away.

Cynical thought: My Facebook News Feed is starting to look more and more like a tabloid-gossip parody of human behavior. Like, if aliens ever mimicked or mocked what they thought humans acted like, our Facebook statuses would be the things they would say.
